For over 60 years, the Rotary Club of Jinja has been a cornerstone of service and compassion in Uganda. Chartered on November 16, 1964, our club has grown to include over 70 active members, all dedicated to the Rotary motto of “Service Above Self.” As we prepare for our next major event, we invite you to join us in our mission to create lasting change in our community.
Upcoming Event: Free Medical Camp in Kamuli
On October 26th, we will host a free medical camp at Kitayungwa Health Centre III in Kamuli. This event aims to provide essential medical care for both communicable and non-communicable diseases to hundreds of community members who otherwise lack access to quality healthcare.
To make this event a success, we are seeking partners to provide:
- Medicines and Medical Supplies: Essential drugs and equipment to treat patients.
- Monetary Support: Financial contributions to cover operational costs.
- Human Resources: Doctors, nurses, and volunteers to offer their expertise.
- Ambulance Services: Transportation for patients in need of urgent care.
- Additional Support: Any resources that can enhance our medical camp and ensure its success.
Our Broader Impact: Education and Clean Water Projects
The Rotary Club of Jinja is committed to creating sustainable, long-term change. For the past 30 years, we have been sponsoring visually impaired children at Balitwegomba Primary School, providing them with the opportunity to receive a quality education. To further this cause, we are constructing staff quarters at the school to provide safe and comfortable housing for teachers.
We have also embarked on the construction of the Balitwegomba Complex, a sustainable initiative designed to fund the education of visually impaired students. This ambitious project, estimated to cost 2 billion Uganda Shillings, is being completed in phases and will provide a stable income source to support the school’s needs.
In addition to our education efforts, we are dedicated to ensuring communities have access to clean and safe water. Recently, we launched a project at Naigobya Primary School in Luuka, constructing a shallow well that now serves both the school and surrounding community with safe drinking water.
